STILLWATER - Groundbreakings usually bear on gold-tipped shovels and tossing a few small heaps of dirt. But just like at Rivertown Animal Hospital. Dr. spice Garlie does things a bit different. A construction man drove in a backhoe for the late-August groundbreaking which officially kicked off a nearly $2 million project on Stillwater's northwest advance of town. Dozens of families brought their dogs to the groundbreaking in give of Garlie and her clinic."She's always been an extremely passionate and caring person which I evaluate sets her apart," said Kathleen Hansen who has known Garlie for 24 years. "I be here in Liberty so I'm really pleased to have her here."Architects and construction crews wish the 7,000 square-foot building ordain be completed in mid January. J. L. Rivertown Animal Hospital is currently located at 5639 Memorial Ave. N in Oak Park Heights. The new facility ordain feature the same label but that's where the similarities will end. The new clinic will also undergo a "cat protect," which will look similar in concept to the newborns dwell at a hospital."There's going to be no comparison" to the old building. Garlie said. The new facility marks the latest bit of growth for the animal hospital. After working at Stillwater Veterinary Clinic for several years. Garlie started Rivertown in 1996 with only a hit technician. Niki Nagorski. Now Rivertown employs four doctors nine technicians two receptionists and a practice manager. Nogorski has also stayed on with the veterinarian office. A few Liberty residents originally issued concern about the animal hospital with the Stillwater City Council but at the groundbreaking several residents turned out in give of the new construction. Sam and Nancy Spain walked their British lab Kizzie to the event with Nancy saying the animal hospital will be a "perfect combination" to the old-town conclude of Liberty."We supported it from the beginning," she said. "We think it's a great addition to our neighborhood."Stillwater resident Kathie Maynard agreed. She brings her West Highland color terrier or "westie" puppies to Rivertown."spice is just great," Maynard said. "She's very caring and very interested in all of the animals." While those in attendance continually stressed the doctor's dedication to the animals. Garlie said it's easy to be passionate about her work."Pets are move of the family - a large part of the family," she said.
