Earlier this week we shared breaking news about Seagate selling at retail. I checked in with the company to learn the details and see if they busted the perp. The official word: The internal investigation by the contract manufacturer determined that the virus was accidentally transferred by one of its employees and not a malicious act. But accident schmaccident: Seagate is taking some severe prevention measures to keep this from happening again including extra anti-virus software—and metal detectors. The situation was more widespread than we originally knew and anyone with a Maxtor Basics drive should probably read on. Reuters reported that it was a Seagate disk discovered in Taiwan but the truth is the Maxtor Basics 3200 (aka PS 3200) is available all over the world and the infected lot made its way to many regions including China. Russia and the Middle East. Our source confirmed that the problem was discovered internally almost two months ago and only boiled over last week when the Taiwanese government got mad at China: In late September. Seagate discovered that a virus had been introduced to one of our retail products from one contract manufacturer. Seagate put an immediate stop to the production line and quarantined the facility until we could confirm that all drives leaving the factory were free of the virus. People who bought PS 3200s can download a free version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 on the Seagate. Investigation.. showed it was a threat to gaming passwords only and that a virus scan.. would rid the drive—and any system attached to it—of the virus. Also there have been some references to the virus deleting MP3s. Although it is a minor inaccuracy this is also incorrect. The original suspicion out of Kaspersky Labs was that MP3s were being deleted by the virus but tests have since proved that it does not. As I mentioned. Seagate is claiming that the whole thing was an accident and wasn't the deliberate act of someone who really really wanted Chinese gaming passwords. Nevertheless the company has share with us its new prevention measures which seem likely to keep the genuinely malicious from pulling off a virtual heist in the future: • Test software verifies that each PS 3200 unit contains no files in the root directory and no files are hidden in the system files. The PS 3200 product line does not ship with any software.• The PS 3200 test procedure has been updated to run each unit through three separate anti-virus software applications (Norton. McAfee and Kaspersky Labs). Previously testing was conducted with one anti-virus application.• Seagate has strictly limited employees access to the test PCs; all employees must now pass through metal detectors. Metal detectors sound pretty hardcore but I for one am satisfied. Hopefully other companies with similar manufacturing vulnerabilities will learn from Seagate's little misadventure. []

(In this case would that have been teacher Laura Rose who was teaching Special Education illegally without a certificate? Laura is the sister-in-law of Kathie Witte. Cranfills Gap ISD board member and the best friend of School Superintendent Carla Sigler-- don't forget nepotism is big at Cranfills Gap! ) Working with Special Education is not usually the job of a educate secretary which was Sandy's job call as listed on the official Cranfills Gap ISD website. I would be interested to know if Janet Cox--- who took Sandy's place and is now listed as school secretary--- was also trained to assist handicapped students and is Janet caring for handicapped students as move of her job duties? Does Janet perform the same duties expected of Sandy in that position? Or was Sandy told that assisting handicapped students was now part of her job and she was expected to do it ---- Either you do this or you can quit!---and thus when Sandy objected was she purposely and deceitfully forced out? I refused a permanent well-paying job as a Special Education aide because---among other things which were distatsteful to me--- I would have had to lift the student--who weighed quite a bit more than me --from their wheelchair and place them on the commode--the toilet--remove a portion of their clothing then----how do I delicately say this?---- after they were finished with vital functions make sure they were wiped and clean before I replaced their clothing and then lifted them back in their wheelchair. I would have had to do this as necessary at least several times a day and with my bad back from lifting hay and feed all my life. I would have been physically unable to perform this job. Several times I have heard others say and undergo said myself that I would possibly have to sight another job when job duties were changed---- others have heard me say that---- however those statements did not constitute a resignation. As the boss of my own small businesses and as a boss at companies I undergo worked for. I have always required a resignation to be submitted in writing,so there would be no challenge of whether an employee resigned or was terminated (fired!) as often the unemployment office would consider it hearsay or "he said--she said" in determining if unemployment insurance funds were payable by the company to the fired employee. Many companies approve unethical and illegal ways to keep from paying required unemployment funds to those who are entitled to them under the law in their particular situation----to save the affiliate money and sometimes just out of spite and ill will toward a former employee. And then there are those companies who want to get rid of the employee that they makes it so hard on the employee that the employee finally throws up their hands in excite and quits. Texas is an At ordain employment state and there are a lot of unfair and unethical ways to get an employee who has change state undesirable-- for whatever reason-- to quit. As for the four teachers' statements saying they heard Sandy say she quit. I doubt that these four teachers just jumped up and volunteered to write statements as to what they heard about a co-worker and probably friend. Laura Rose remained in place at the school still breaking the law. Another Norwegian if you had been the one who had discovered that Laura Rose was breaking the law would your job history-- and any reputation you might have or not have --be relevant to the fact that Laura Rose was breaking the law? Of cover it would not be relevant and neither is anything about Michelle Dubay's job history. I personally accept that Laura Rose should be punished and forced to alter restitution to the state for her fraud. The huge amount of taxpayer money she was fraudulently paid through those many years could be put toward Texas students' pressing needs and not into her pocket as a reward for knowingly and willfully breaking the law. And if others knew about her breaking the law especially if they were on the school board--as were her husband. Jeff Rose and her sister-in-law. Kathie Witte--- those others should be punished also as they would be an accessory to the crime. If her husband or others benefitted financially from this fraud they should also be forced to make restitution. express money should be spent in the best interests of students not to lie the pockets of lawbreakers who rip off the taxpayers.

Kathryn Baird a recreation command for the City of Fredericton has received the Active Living Award of Excellence from Recreation New Brunswick. During one recent session of Moms on the Move a woman running past her said "I'm comfort running!" "She had been in the schedule the year before," Baird said. City recreation manager Michelle Horncastle said Baird is an exceptional individual when it comes to getting adults children and families more active. "Kathryn's commitment to providing fun exciting and low to no-cost ways to change magnitude the physical activity levels of individuals within our community has helped Frederictonians of all ages to become more healthy and active," Horncastle said. Stage 1 – The 20somethingFresh out of college the employee is highly motivated and eager to work. Long hours don’t matter if it helps to act up somehow and start making a career out of a job. The employee gets their first impression of the corporate life and it puts a stamp on their work personality. The 20something is easy to manipulate and corporate propaganda about how successful they business can be with their help still works. Money is more important than perks of free time. Stage 2 – The Mid-TimerMid-timers populate who’ve worked at other places for a few years tend to be a mixed bag in a bring home the bacon environment – especially when changing jobs. They undergo seen layoffs they have seen different work environments. They look for stability and are eventually a little skeptical about the (corporate propaganda) work philosophy. But they “consume the cool aid” and will usually amalgamate in just book into the crowd of slaves employees. I don't know how the makers were able to do it but they change surface managed to get a good performance from Jessica Simpson. I wanted to hate her but I just couldn't. She's very likable and genuine in this movie. And the best move is - they don't undergo any of her songs on the soundtrack. Employee of the Month is a quirky comedy with a substantial story and charming characters. Definitely a movie worth checking out!
