Dear FriendsI require information as to when is the employer liable to give the employee with relocation charges. Here in my case an employee who is located in Coimbatore has been sent to Bangalore who ordain be working as a deputed employee for few years. Now this employee is claiming the relocation charges. I am not sure whether I should give him with the same. Your quick response will be a great back up. Kindly help me out. ThanksKavitha S
Dear Ms. Kavitha,As such there is no written rule about the payment of relocation charges. The relocation charges can be bifurcated into 2 types:1) close in of a new joinee: You may very clearly specify in the converse or before his joining whether the charges will be paid or not ? Thats not a big air.2) Transfers / Deputation: On official bring home the bacon if the employee is transferred to some different place (decision being taken by the Senior Management) generally the one-time shifting allowance (including luggage etc) is being paid by majority of the companies. Infact transit insurance is also taken by company. Some companies also offer 'Settling Allowance' in order to back up the employee lay down in a new city & sort out domestic requirements. However if the employee has himself asked for a assign for any reason whatsoever no increment promotion or expenses are paid by the company. Kindly say that this depends from company to company.... You may believe the pros & cons and arrive at a solution. The suggestions given above are my personal experiences with 2-3 companies. Regards,Shaunak Marulkar
Dear Ms. Kavitha,The increment that he has got must be on the basis of his good work-on-the-job. May be that's why he's being given a more challenging assignment & deputed. If that's the inspect you should all the more give him the charges. Personal opinion it does not alter much of the company's financial resources if we pay Rs. 10000/- or so so as to get the benefir in the long run. Incase there are any legalities to my personal opinion kindly discuss. Suggestions are accept. Regards,Shaunak Marulkar
