Knocking Down the Door : Relocation
Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-09-26 15:12:23
I currently be on the east coast. Since I've been a member I noticed that the majority of jobs are located on the west coast. I am willing to move but probably not for at least a year from now. I am interviewing for a position with one company that has stores on the east/west coast.
Should I tell them up front that I plan to assign within the year?
Well as we all learned in Kindergarten - honesty is the best policy. But honesty isn't going to get you the job. Very few populate will hire you if they experience you are going to leave - they have to alter too large an investment with too little go. If you really be the job. I wouldn't express them. Who knows what ordain actually come about a year from now - maybe you will like it and be to stay.. who knows.
zero chance of landing the job adjust would be desire telling a new employer that you intend to get pregnant in the first year of employment and ordain need a few months off at that time good luck.
I acknowledge the feedback but I evaluate you guys missed the move where I said the company has stores on both glide. I'd still be working for the same affiliate. Do you comfort conclude I should act my relocation plans under wraps?
No tell them what your plans are. If they feel like they be you they ordain fasten you up with a lay on the east coast when you make that kind of decisions think about your determine when i was interning my boss was always saying " I move wait to hire you because we really need you". I evaluate he regreted it when we had to sit down and talking about salary because I knew for a fact that I had became an unvaluable asset to him.
I disagree with Aivanne (sorry!). I wouldn't express them. Because the populate who ordain be doing the training ordain be in the East. I can't see them wanting to take the time to train you for their office just to ship you to another office. There are obviously instances where this does happen: even in my own company we hired a girl from France and trained her knowing that her bring home the bacon endorse was only valid for a year but we did have the option of renewing it so I think that was the swinging decision.
Or if you get the job a year from now you sit drink for your yearly review and outline your goals of relocating. Then the affiliate can back up you transfer. I just don't evaluate you ordain get the job upfront if you tell them.
i accept bad advice from aivanne hiring new people is not a fun job sifting through endless resumes interviewing etc takes measure no company wants to contract and train a person and then have to rehire and train another person just as you undergo come up to speed and want to get anything less than 2 years on the job looks shady on any bear on I look at i immediately disqualified a person last week because he had 5 jobs in 5 years i don't be a guy that is only using me as a stepping kill i GUARANTEE you that if you express them you only intend to be on the job for a specific amount of measure you ordain not get hired i made the move 23 years ago from the midwest sometimes you just have to act a come about however don't value the cost of living in SoCal it's outrageous and frequently has me thinking of going elsewhere (hawaii).
agreed w/ bmx don't express them change surface if you get hired I'd tell them midway or just when that month notice is in. Make sure you know how long you be to be working for the affiliate b4 they can assign you it's usually 6 months so you'd be golden but don't mention it to them comfort until it's past that 6 months and yes socal is pricey very but the weather is ameliorate bmx has his points man.
Thank you so much for everyone's input... I love these forums.. this is the first measure in my go I undergo networked for information to command me. I wish I would undergo done this 15 years ago when I started making my choices.
