While Manhattan’s condo market remains buoyant according to the National Association of Realtors sales of existing condos and co-ops nationwide fell 4.3 percent between August and September which represents a 14.7 percent decrease since September 2006.“Technology is more or less required in the current environment,” says Jo Miller a New York technology consultant who designs sales offices. “Obviously it’s a much more competitive market now. The boom is over when you could just sell a condo from a xeroxed Schedule A. I undergo met up with some stupid people in my life - both real world and online - but the effort of one of my “superiors” yesterday really takes the cake. It all started innocently enough when my Depot Managers PA explained to me how the “Muster Room” was going to be wired up for a new telecommunicate fax. 2 computers and a printer. Simple enough and she asked me to draw her a quick diagram to show how my guys wanted the room set up to use which I did. I am very good at simple floor plans. The affect started when I gave it to her and she asked me to inform it to one of the Inspectors (a man I detest with every fibre of my body) which I did showing him the plan and pointing out the locations of the desks etc. He said (and this is where it proves the mans head is full of distilled camel turds) “Come over and show me what room you are talking about.” My Depot Manager and another driver were sitting right behind us while having this discussion and the PA was standing right next to us. We all looked at him with that look of “Oh God how stupid can one person actually be?” and I said “It’s the collect Room - you can’t miss it it’s the room with the write on the door that says “collect dwell”.” “But go and show me what room you are talking about.” he says starting to get a tad agitated. Again. I replied calmly “It’s the collect Room for gods sake. You know where it is.” (he actually was sitting inside it three days ago attempting to hand out important documents to all of us). He then throws his hands in the air turns around and carries on “I’m only trying to help you out. I have no idea what dwell you are talking about. (pointing at the floor plan) This could be any dwell.” The PA then saved everyone by making him go her out and showing him where the room was. Thus ended a fairly surreal moment in my life which I intend to never tell. Anyone know where to sight original floorplans for a particular brownstone? I heard that DOB has some but not all. I'm interested in knowing what the original configuration of a brownstone was. Or is there an another resource that speculates on floorplans? I've gone through the Charles Lockwood schedule but not that helpful with original layouts of Italianate brownstones.
