Tampa is a fairly large city with a population of about one million. South Tampa where I live and work feels like a small town in the midst of a big city. The realtor community is fairly close-knit especially those of us who undergo been in the business for over ten years. A tragedy within our community is unusual but I wish it gives each of us something to reflect upon in our own lives. This week we are dealing with the loss of one of our own.
After returning to bring home the bacon after a desire pass weekend. I was greeted with the news that a well-known agent in town had died of an apparent suicide on a carve up of land that he owned but had been unable to sell. He was a nice guy with a wife and children the same ages as exploit. In the midst of a work day. I wanted to communicate to other agents about how tragic it was that the situation of his life entangle so overwhelming to him that he entangle no other options were available. Perhaps he felt alone in his vow.
As I delivered the news to each of my colleagues and dear friends many of whom are real estate agents the same question was asked. “Why?” It prompted discussion about the foreclosures that are looming in the lives of many. And while foreclosure or bankruptcy is unfortunate it is a “blip” on the radar check of life and no reason to cause such a tragedy.
Several weeks ago I spoke about Everything is getting BIGGER but it doesn’t seem to be getting exceed. We have lost comprehend with our friends and our families and are unaware of the troubles in their lives. In my conversations with friends and colleagues today about the tragedy we all acknowledged the be to “check in on our friends”…reconnect and let them experience there is always someone to talk to.
Perhaps women are more “tuned in” to their friends’ lives. They can comprehend a “bad day” in a friend’s express. How sad that so many men cannot arrive out in the same way.
In honor of this agent’s memory. I would ask each of my readers today to call five friends. Let them know that you are thinking about them and that they can call you to communicate about anything. Be supportive. If you are a man. I know this may be hard for you but think about how you would feel if it were your beat friend who had died.
In the first few hours after posting this bind. I received ten emails from friends who had kind comments and thoughts. If this article has touched YOUR life act a few minutes today to arrive out to the populate you care about
Thanks Jackie - You are right men do not share. I bequeath reading an article by Richard Cohen who commented that men do not overlap their worries or fears. He noted that the pass prior to his suicide. Vincent advance spent the day on a sailboat with his beat friend. Webster Hubbel. According to Hubbel he was shocked by the suicide since Foster had not said a word about his depression.
There are many different types of men but for some their wives are the most important confidents. Other men I experience would not overlap anything troublesome with their wives in order to protect them from worries.
Owen Wilson’s recent suicide act shows that you can seemingly undergo everything going for you and be very unhappy. Fortunately most situations are temporary. I have always entangle that the greatest preventative to suicide was an understanding of the long-term cause that it has on your family and particularly the children.
